Surgery lamp performance requirements

1.      Sufficient illumination

Now surgery lamp illumination can reach 180,000 Lux, near to the sun brightness in summer. The actual use of illumination generally is between 40,000 – 100,000 Lux, too bright will affect eyesight. Glare on surgical instruments should be avoided while providing adequate illumination, glare affects vision and vision, easy to make the eyes fatigue, adverse surgeon surgery. Surgery lamp illumination and operating room illumination should not have a big difference. Some standards require that the illumination of the overall illumination is one-tenth of the local illumination, the overall illumination of the operating room should be above 1,000 Lux.

2.      High shadowless level

Shadowless level is an important feature and performance indicators for surgery lamp. Any shadow formed in the surgical field will hinder the doctor's observation, discrimination and surgery. Besides adequate illumination, good surgery lamp also should have high shadowless level, to ensure that the surgical field surface and deep tissue have a certain degree of luminosity. Shadowless level test, use one 50X75mm black cylinder, put the light source 1M distance above it, place a photometer at the bottom of the cylinder, measured light and shadow ratio not less than 10%, the actual use of surgery lamp is installing a few or a dozen ring evenly arranged light source in 50-100 cm diameter lamp head, special bulbs and reflectors are used in the light source, the beam which from different points meets at one point through filter reflection, to provides balanced, uniform and shadowless bright beam.

3.      Low temperature

The improvement of illuminance will inevitably lead to the temperature increase of the lamp body and the beam, which will affect the temperature of the doctor head and the surgery field, thus affecting the operation efficiency and the operation quality. So the operating room temperature increase should less than 10 Celsius. The main way is to make the visible light generated by the light source through the filter which can filter out 70% infrared, most of the remaining infrared rays are separated and filtered by glass cover. After the above treatment the beam is called cold light.

4.      Good light quality

It means that the beam can truly reflect the blood, the organization's color and its changes. Generally, it is called color rendering. It is represented by the color rendering index which is calculated by the spectral distribution of light source. The best CRI is 100, CRI and color temperature have a great relationship. When color temperature reach 6000K, the true color rendering is about 70-90, the effective color rendering is close to 100.

5.      Operate easily

Surgery lamp should be able to continuously change the position and direction during the operation, the operation must be simple, flexible, lightweight, braking fast and effective. The central part of the lamp body should be equipped with sterilizable operating handle, some advanced products are also equipped with fiber optic deep cold light, color TV photography and ventilation devices.

6.      Economic and security

Economic mainly refers to the efficiency of light-emitting light, low power consumption and long life. As the surgery lamp structure is huge and complex, considering its safety is very important. This mainly refers to electrical safety performance, lamp body structure and its weight.
