It is mainly for oral surgery and oral disease examination and treatment. Electric dental chair is used widely, such as Mingtai dental chair, it has 8 parts, base fixed on floor, dental chair upper part connect base through support, dental chair movement is controlled by the controller which is on the dental back board. It working principle is that controller start motor movement, the motor movement drive transmission mechanism working, then makes the relevant part move. According to treatment needs, dental chair can do movements like height adjustment, forward/backward tilt, reset, etc.

What’s the parameter meaning displayed in monitor?

Monitor is much common in hospital ICU and coronary heart disease care room. It is on the bedside, connecting with patient, monitoring patient's condition (such as heart rate, respiratory, body temperature, blood pressure, etc), and displaying parameters. Generally it forms a monitoring system with central monitor. Now I will take Mingtai brand monitor as an example to explain those parameters.

Generally the monitor will display as below:

ECG- electrocardiogram

Mainly display heart rate, means the heart pulse times per minutes. Heart rate is different for adult, average is about 75/min (between 60-100/min)

NIBP- non-invasive blood pressure

IBP- invasive blood pressure

Below is the average normal blood pressure reference for Chinese people

  

SpO2- Pulse Oxygen Saturation (normal value is 90-100, most people are 99-100, the more hypoxia, the lower SpO2)

SpO2 is the HbO2 account percentage in the total amount of hemoglobin (Hb), that is, the concentration of blood oxygen in the blood, which is an important physiological parameter of the respiratory cycle. SPO2 = Hb oxygen content / Hb oxygen capacity × 100%. It is an important indicators for reflecting body oxygen supply situation. Generally it is believed that the normal SpO2 should not be less than 94%, less than 94% is considered insufficient oxyen, some other scholars think less than 90% is low oxygen standard.

RP- Respiratory rate, means the times that people breathes in unit time. When calm breath, newborns is 60-70/min, adults is 12-18/min

TEMP- temperature

Normal value is less than 37.3℃, more than 37.3℃ means fever. Some monitor may don not have this parameter.

2. Hanging arm

There are 3 types for arms: single column, single arm and double arms. For single arm and double arms, there are mechanical and electric types.

Single column medical pendant means without hanging arm, not flexible, but with lower price, much suitable for low budget, fixed bed and using position department. Such as emergency room, emergency room, rescue room, NICU. Generally single column pendant box can be rotated, so some hospital can support 2 or 3 bed with 1 single column pendant. Single arm means one arm, double arms means 2 arms. The arm length can be customized according to the working area. Someone may think that double arms pendants are much better than single arm because it working area is big. In fact the medical pendant should be chosen according to hospital environment, compared with double arms, single arm is used widely, because convenience operation is much important for medical staff. You can fix single arm pendant by operate it 1 time, while double arms pendant need 2 times.

For single and double arm medical pendant, there are mechanical and electric types. Mechanical arm can be rotated along axial direction; electric arm can be rotated along axial direction and radial direction. For single arm medical pendant you can choose mechanical or electric arm. For double arms medical pendant, the first arm which near to the base is mechanical arm, 2nd arm can be mechanical arm or electric arm. Such as above picture, left picture double arm medical pendant, those 2 arms are mechanical arms, right picture the 1st arm is mechanical arm, 2nd arm is electric arm, height can be adjusted by motors which located on the bottom of electric arm.

3. Box

Swing pipe and box connect under hanging arm. Swing pipe’s length is depend on room’ height. For box, every factory has its own design, it length can be customized according to usage requirement and gas/power terminal quantity.

Generally strong and weak electrical outlet, gas terminal and equipment rails will be equipped on medical pendant. Strong and weak electrical outlet support 220V strong electrical and network, video, audio and other weak signals. Gas terminal support different gas source, distinguished by different logo and interface shape, such as oxygen, air, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, negative pressure, anesthesia and so on. Equipment rails fix tray, drawer, rotation arm etc, supporting supporting platform for different equipment. Besides those, some box may install control handle or other accessories to control medical pendant’s movement.

Because strong and weak electrical and gas usage frequency is very high, so the gas and electrical separate requirement is very high.

Operating room medical pendant main part （Part 1）

Generally medical pendant consists of 3 parts: base, arm and box. The part above base is called supporting part, hidden on the ceiling. The upper side of supporting part connects with floor, and the lower side connects with medical pendant. It is the main part confirming medical pendant’s safety and normal usage.

1. Base

From appearance medical pendant can be divided into 2 types: single pendant and double pendants. You can distinguish them easily from above picture, install one pendant on the base, or install 2 pendants on the base. Generally when we talk medical pendant, it is means single pendant, it is widely used in hospital.

Double pendants are usually used in hospital and ICU who has high need about medical devices and gas, power supporting, but with small room area.

In ICU, double pendants are widely used, especially in VIP room or single room with big area. Double pendants also can separate wet and dry part by two pendant. One pendant put those devices which has liquid pass, such as infusion pump, syringe pump, oxygen flow meter, negative pressure suction device. Another pendant put monitor, ventilator, disposable supplies, in that case it is much safety and reliable for ICU pendant’s care and management. Besides, double pendants are much more flexible compared with bridge pendant, it can do longitudinal and vertical movement by moving arm, patient head can get much more area, routine care such as oxygen, suction are much convenience and safety.

Besides single pendant and double pendants, base also has other types, such as combine medical pendant with monitor arm, combine medical pendant with lifting device. Above left picture endoscope medical pendant and single monitor arm install on the same base, all sets endoscope system put on medical pendant, monitor display endoscope picture, by moving arm, monitor motion distant is very large, convenient for medical staff operate it during endoscope surgery. The right picture is lifting device on medical pendant, nurse can move patient safety and easily from bed to chair or wheelchair.

Medical device history

Operating light construction

Regarding the products’ construction and composition, the “Guidelines for the review of operating light registration technology” points that: Operating lights are different according to their usage, installation method, optics principles and light source. Generally, operating light has 3 compositions: light head, hanging arm and base, camera and monitor are optional. It composition is as below:

For your better understanding, we can refer to Mingtai LED760/560 operating light, it is classic double domes operating light.

Now double domes operating light is the first choice for most hospital: one is main light, supporting main lighting; another is auxiliary light, supporting auxiliary lighting, making up main light’s lighting blind zone. Besides, the auxiliary light can be used in time when the main light failed.

1.      Light head

It is operating light head part, support shadowless condition for surgery field. Most manufacturers’ head design is different according to different working principle, sometimes it will equip with other special functions. So light head is the core part for operating light.

The light head we talked generally includes 2 parts: light head and universal joint, universal joints is the bent pipe which connect light head and spring arm. Generally 2 bent pipes will be used, as above picture, light head can be rotated along 3 axial leads (light head and bent pipe joint, 2 bent pipes joint, bent pipe and spring arm joint) by 2 bent pipes’ rotation, convenient for surgery light’s adjustment.

2.      Hanging arm

Hanging arm consists of 2 parts: rotary module and spring module.

Rotary module connects base and spring module, including central axis and rotation arm. Above picture is classic double dome operating light, central axis is the vertical bar in the red frame. 2 rotation arm installed under it. With this construction design, rotation arm can rotate 360° along with central axis. In general, max 4 rotation arms can be installed on central axis, light head, monitor and camera can be equipped. And the arm length is not settled, if you have high space requirement, customized arm length can offer you better choice.

Spring arm is link mechanism which connect rotation arm and light head, reciprocating motion shown as above picture can be achieved by it, and 2 end connecting rods’ direction will not change during movement. And inner spring structure can make sure that the spring arm can bear certain weight. So the light head’s position can be adjusted easily by using spring arm.

It can be seen that by hanging arm which composed by rotary module and spring module, not only horizontal rotation can be achieved, vertical reciprocating motion also can be achieved, with the light head universal joint, all those improve operating light’s mobility.

3.      Base

Generally base is designed as long hanging tube, connecting flange in the end. Flange connect hidden parts which are in the ceiling space, another hanging tube side sticks out ceiling space, connects with rotation joints. The red frame showed in the above picture is the stick out hanging tube. Round cover is installed to hidden inner construction.
