Operating room medical pendant main part （Part 1）

Generally medical pendant consists of 3 parts: base, arm and box. The part above base is called supporting part, hidden on the ceiling. The upper side of supporting part connects with floor, and the lower side connects with medical pendant. It is the main part confirming medical pendant’s safety and normal usage.

1. Base

From appearance medical pendant can be divided into 2 types: single pendant and double pendants. You can distinguish them easily from above picture, install one pendant on the base, or install 2 pendants on the base. Generally when we talk medical pendant, it is means single pendant, it is widely used in hospital.

Double pendants are usually used in hospital and ICU who has high need about medical devices and gas, power supporting, but with small room area.

In ICU, double pendants are widely used, especially in VIP room or single room with big area. Double pendants also can separate wet and dry part by two pendant. One pendant put those devices which has liquid pass, such as infusion pump, syringe pump, oxygen flow meter, negative pressure suction device. Another pendant put monitor, ventilator, disposable supplies, in that case it is much safety and reliable for ICU pendant’s care and management. Besides, double pendants are much more flexible compared with bridge pendant, it can do longitudinal and vertical movement by moving arm, patient head can get much more area, routine care such as oxygen, suction are much convenience and safety.

Besides single pendant and double pendants, base also has other types, such as combine medical pendant with monitor arm, combine medical pendant with lifting device. Above left picture endoscope medical pendant and single monitor arm install on the same base, all sets endoscope system put on medical pendant, monitor display endoscope picture, by moving arm, monitor motion distant is very large, convenient for medical staff operate it during endoscope surgery. The right picture is lifting device on medical pendant, nurse can move patient safety and easily from bed to chair or wheelchair.
